I might have to replace my 35 gall tank. Im thinking about going with a 65 gallon because it is the same width as the 35. this will make life a little easier because the currant tank is in the wall.

I'd like to have this tank drilled for both the overflow and return lines. I am a DIY all the way. So anything that i can do on my own i will. I have built my currant overflow box and sump/ref. If i have this tank drilled what are some ways that i can build the overflow area into the tank? i have seen some that are drilled on the bottom with a collection area built around it inside the tank. I would rather drill the hole closer to the top of the tank. what some ideas?

PS im thinking about big als for a tank? they did have a 65 for $99.?

Your options for drilling the holes are to Dremel it or glass core bit drill it. I also don't like inside the tank overflow boxes. My tank and a few others now just put a drain hole in the back wall and plump it directly to the sump. Use a T at the top and air will escape upward and water will go downward. You will have to play around with it to control noise but it works well. There are a few threads here about setting this up.
