Hello,
I have a Sonony digital still camera. Its a Dsc -f717. Ive had it for a year now, and still havent got everything figured out yet. Does anyone have any tips, hints, tricks to using this camera, for the fish tank, close ups, or anything in general?
Thanks for the help.

I have the DSC-T1 (the flat one with big scren on the back). i too would love to hear some pointers from those who may know a little something about photography. (seems like you gotta be an expert in all fields with this hobby).

I have a DSC-F505 that is an older version of the F717. Great camera because of the pivoting lens and awsome Carl Zeiss optics. A 2.5 megapixel with good optics makes better pictures than a 3.5 megapixel with cheap optics. I have done an full 8x10 frontpage magazine cover with a 2.1 megapixel.
For pictures of your tank, I do think that a tri-pod is a must with any camera. Macro function works well on this camera (I find it does). Try not to use the flash, depending on the angle of the camera with the tank, the flash will just bounce back.
With a tripod you can go with slower shutter speeds to compensate for low light and not using the flash. Ok might not work for taking a picture of your tang speeding across your tank :zoom:
And last of all, don't be afraid to just try all kinds of things... you are not paying for film anymore! Thats whats fun with digital :D
